The Challenge

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust needed expert support to advance its digital transformation goals, specifically around the Yorkshire & Humber Care Record (YHCR). A clear gap had emerged in the Trust’s capability to develop and deliver a robust test strategy, prompting an urgent requirement for a highly experienced Test Manager.

Time was of the essence. The success of this programme hinged on having the right individual in place to lead testing efforts across multiple disciplines. Without this interim support, the Trust risked delays, reduced confidence in the YHCR rollout, and potential impacts to system-wide readiness.

The Objective

The Trust’s ambition was to implement a comprehensive, end-to-end testing approach that would ensure the YHCR solution was fit for purpose across the entire patient and operational journey. Key objectives included delivering a structured and scalable testing strategy that covered:

  • Unit Testing System Integration
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Clinical Safety Testing
  • Performance and Volume Testing
  • Regression and Penetration Testing
  • Operational and Business Acceptance

Our Approach

Targeted Campaign 

We ran a targeted and thorough recruitment campaign to source senior-level candidates with proven experience delivering NHS testing programmes at scale. Within a short timeframe, we presented the client with a carefully curated shortlist of three candidates, all of whom had been pre-screened for both their technical expertise and cultural fit.

Successful Placement, Lasting Impact

After a structured interview process, the Trust appointed one of our shortlisted Test Managers, someone who went on to play a pivotal role in the wider success of the programme.

The Results

Over a 24-month engagement, the Test Manager worked closely with internal stakeholders and Test Analysts to design and implement a resilient and future-proof test strategy. Their work enabled Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust to successfully go live with the YHCR – a major milestone not just for the organisation, but for digital health integration across Yorkshire.

Crucially, the strategy and outcomes delivered through this engagement laid the foundations for wider adoption. Other Trusts in the region have since followed suit, implementing the YHCR with confidence – a clear testament to the quality of work delivered and the value of getting the right resource at the right time.
