Tom discovered a passion for digital marketing by accident; as he tells it, a local SEO firm “were the first people to invite me for interview while I was finishing up at university”. By the time he graduated from Lancaster University he was firmly in place with their copywriting team.

Over the years since, Tom has freelanced as a copywriter and copy editor, spent time as an office manager keeping a local software company organised, and gradually moved through the ranks in a B2B agency environment, back in the digital marketing world.

Tom firmly believes the key to this development is the professional writer’s mentality – you can’t help but pick up little bits of information as you work, and those bits and pieces gradually grow together until you have new tools to put to the test.

At IT Works, Tom brings the broad training at his fingertips to focus on long-term projects for the website and social media. Working alongside his colleagues in our capable marketing team, he provides a voice of experience – not just about how digital marketing used to be, but why and how it’s changing.

When he’s not at work, you might find Tom writing fiction, creating sinister experiences for horror weekends, or enjoying a night out with his friends.

“The support IT Works give each other is amazing. It comes from the hard work the team does supporting everyone else we’re in contact with.”
