When you work extensively in the PACS industry it’s easy to forget that not everyone knows what all of the different job titles mean, but if you’re a hiring manager for an organisation just setting up or migrating their PACS you may be a little less clear on the individual titles. So what is a PACS specialist? Which roles do you need?
The Different Types of PACS Specialist
PACS analysts, engineers, administrators and support officers are all sometimes bundled together as PACS specialists. Obviously, these job titles suggest very different skillsets and typical working days. However that isn’t always the case!
While some organisations have large PACS teams, it’s just as common for just one or two dedicated PACS specialists to be on the books. They will have answered adverts listing a need for a specific title, but a PACS manager or administrator working on their own will likely have to show in interview that their technical skills are good enough to carry out typical troubleshooting activities at a minimum, and maybe even more.
If you don’t have someone familiar with PACS on the team already, it can sometimes be difficult to draft your requirement and job role. In this case I’d recommend reaching out to someone familiar with the market and its internal jargon.
Myself and the PACS team here at IT Works Health are used to speaking to hiring managers and decision makers at all levels of familiarity with the market and the jargon. In all cases, when a role first comes up we take the time to lay out the requirement clearly, and in some cases we’ve been asked for our own input – here’s the situation, and what do you recommend?
We believe in building long-term relationships with our clients and our candidates, and the only way to do that is through hard work and earning trust. If we can see an opportunity to help you secure the perfect candidate for your role, we’ll do it.
Of course, you don’t have to take our word for it. If you have a challenging requirement to fill, contact me (Rhys Clarke) via the details below:
