How Do I Learn LIMS

If your organisation has recently, or is now planning to, set up a LIMS solution, you may be wondering about learning LIMS skills in order to improve your prospects. You might also simply have noticed that it’s a major industry within the digital health landscape, and be interested in building a career in LIMS.

But how do you get started?

Learning LIMS Skills

First things first; some of what you need to do will be different according to the LIMS you learn. (Most people in the industry are only familiar with one or two systems.) Individual operating procedures will vary according to your chosen LIMS, but the basic principles remain the same.

There are two different aspects to learning skills you want to use in your career; developing them and proving them. You can begin to develop an understanding of core LIMS concepts as simply as by watching YouTube tutorials. However, when you apply for a LIMS role having done this, you won’t be taken seriously unless you can prove you have the experience.

Professional courses also exist, but by far the best way to prove yourself with LIMS software is to push to work alongside the experienced LIMS team in your organisation.

As you develop these skills you’ll also build up the documentation you need to prove your abilities.

That’s an essential step in ensuring you can land a new role. When you’re ready to do that, give us a call and we’ll help you find the perfect role for you.
