Our client is a privately owned, founder-led medical technology business, operating in a highly specialised niche within the NHS and broader healthcare market. The business is growing steadily and currently supplies over 250 units a year into a total market of around 1,000 to 1,100 units, which gives them a strong and competitive share.
They are now seeking to hire an Implementation Manager, who can take ownership of the majority of Implementation and field support day-to-day responsibilities.
Role Overview
We are seeking to appoint an Implementation Manager to take on a substantial portion of the operational and delivery workload. As the business continues to scale, this role is critical to enable him to step away from day-to-day delivery and focus more on strategic growth and market expansion.
This role will be responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of medical imaging systems across NHS and healthcare clients. The process begins once a purchase order is issued and includes liaising with NHS Trusts, managing logistics, scheduling installation dates, configuring servers and databases, coordinating engineer resources, conducting post-install testing, and ensuring full customer handover. Installations are often technically complex due to the NHS’s fragmented IT infrastructure, requiring strong knowledge of VPNs, SQL database environments, Active Directory, permissions, and secure deployment practices.
The successful candidate must be technically fluent, with experience of SQL database administration and some exposure to coding or scripting. They should also have a solid understanding of networking and security, with the ability to identify and resolve technical implementation issues on-site or remotely. Canon’s software runs entirely on a SQL backend, and experience working in or alongside NHS IT environments would be highly advantageous.
This is a customer-facing, delivery-focused role, with around 80% of the workload centered on operational execution and 20% on supporting sales demos and light commercial interaction. The candidate must be confident working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, from NHS engineers and IT managers to end users and clinical staff. They should be capable of managing and motivating a small internal team, including two service engineers and part-time consultants across finance, quality and marketing.
Efficiency, ownership and cultural alignment are all crucial. The successful candidate will be someone who gets things done without unnecessary discussion, someone with a hands-on attitude, reliable character and a commitment to completing tasks to a high standard.
Requirements
- The role will require national travel around 50% of the time, with the remaining time spent working remotely or on administrative tasks.
- Some international travel for training (e.g., in the Netherlands or Japan) may also be required.
- Ideally candidates must live within a one-hour commute of High Wycombe, with ideal locations including Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Luton, Uxbridge, Ruislip, Milton Keynes, Beaconsfield, and parts of northwest London.
- Company Van is provided, along with a mobile phone, laptop, and access to Canon’s structured training and development platform.
Assignment Approach, methodology
- This role will be with customers, but this search location will give them good access to the office and necessary transport links.
- We will ensure that the successful candidate is skilled in SQL, MS Server Configuration and Cross-Platform System Integration and potentially has Azure cloud experience as well.
