The Lab Systems team provides second-line support for all IT systems involved in laboratory processing, including LIMS, analyser interfacing, middleware, and order communications systems.
The team was established to ensure the laboratory is efficiently supported during new equipment installations, process changes, or system failures. In addition, the team offers support for external clients’ order communications systems and GP setups. However, development work on the integration engine and WinPath HL7 interfaces is managed by a separate team.
This role encompasses four key areas: project work, ongoing support, training, and preventative maintenance.
Main Duties:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage day-to-day support requests from the laboratory and external clients, providing second-line support to the helpdesk and resolving escalated issues.

Implement and maintain analyser and middleware interfaces, including CDM and CITM systems, as well as WinPath point-to-point interfaces (e.g., blood transfusion or point-of-care systems).

Implement and support laboratory pre-analytics systems for sample sorting and routing, including solutions from Roche, Sysmex, and GLP.

Configure and support LIMS systems within the laboratories, including adding new codes, rules, and workflows, as well as assisting with the installation and setup of new LIMS systems.

Assist in the generation and extraction of data from WinPath and other data repositories, liaising with development or business intelligence teams as required.

Support queries from external clients regarding order communications systems and client results systems, escalating to the development team when necessary.

Represent the IT department and Lab Systems team in new projects, such as the implementation of new laboratories or client systems, and actively contribute to the project management process.
