The RiO Configuration Analyst will play a key role in the optimisation, configuration, and ongoing development of the Trusts RiO Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.
The post-holder will work closely with clinical, operational, and digital stakeholders to analyse current workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver system configuration changes that enhance usability, data quality, compliance, and patient care outcomes.
This role is central to ensuring that RiO supports safe, efficient, and effective service delivery across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Configuration & Optimisation
- Configure and maintain forms, workflows, care plans, assessments, templates, alerts, and user roles within RiO.
- Translate service requirements into functional system design specifications.
- Lead on optimisation initiatives to improve system performance and user experience.
- Ensure configuration aligns with national standards, clinical safety requirements, and Trust policies.
2. Stakeholder Engagement
- Work collaboratively with clinicians, service managers, and operational teams to understand service needs.
- Facilitate workshops to review and redesign workflows within RiO.
- Provide expert advice on best practice use of the system.
- Act as a liaison between system users and the Digital/EPR team.
3. Change Management & Governance
- Follow Trust change control processes for system modifications.
- Produce configuration documentation, impact assessments, and release notes.
- Support testing (SIT/UAT) of new configurations and upgrades.
- Ensure changes are compliant with information governance and clinical safety standards (e.g., DCB0129/DCB0160 where applicable).
4. Data Quality & Reporting Support
- Support improvements in structured data capture to enhance reporting capability.
- Work with Business Intelligence teams to ensure data fields meet reporting and statutory requirements.
- Assist in resolving data quality issues arising from system configuration.
5. Training & Support
- Provide second/third-line support for complex RiO configuration issues.
- Develop user guidance and training materials for new functionality.
- Deliver training sessions where required to support optimisation initiatives.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Experience configuring and supporting RiO within an NHS or healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows within mental health, community, or children’s services.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating them into system solutions.
- Knowledge of NHS data standards, information governance, and clinical safety principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working on EPR optimisation or transformation programmes within an National Health Service organisation.
- Understanding of interoperability standards (e.g., HL7).
- Experience supporting system upgrades and supplier releases.
- Prince2, Agile, or relevant project/change management qualification.
