Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, HCPC-registered Senior Laboratory Manager with a strong background in Histopathology to lead and develop our laboratory operations. This is a hands-on leadership role within a dynamic startup environment, offering the opportunity to shape processes, implement best practices, and drive operational excellence from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all aspects of the histopathology laboratory, ensuring operational efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.

• Develop, implement, and optimise laboratory workflows, protocols, and procedures to support high-quality diagnostic services.

• Supervise, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary laboratory team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.

• Ensure compliance with HCPC standards, ISO regulations, and other relevant healthcare and laboratory regulations.

• Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, staffing, budgets, and consumables, to support growth and operational excellence.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clinicians, external partners, and regulatory bodies, representing the laboratory professionally and effectively.

• Contribute to strategic planning, service development, and the adoption of new technologies or methodologies to enhance laboratory capabilities.

Person Specification / Skills & Experience:

• HCPC-registered professional (essential).

• Significant experience in histopathology and senior laboratory management, preferably within clinical or diagnostic settings.

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience motivating and developing laboratory staff.

• In-depth knowledge of laboratory workflows, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance in a clinical environment.

• Proven ability to implement process improvements and optimise laboratory operations.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with the ability to adapt and lead change.
