SystmOne SME

We are seeking an experienced SystmOne Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the delivery of an Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) project within an NHS Trust. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the safe, effective, and optimised implementation of EPMA within the SystmOne environment.

You will work closely with clinical, operational, and digital teams to design, configure, and embed EPMA functionality, ensuring alignment with clinical workflows, patient safety standards, and NHS best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the SystmOne SME for EPMA design, build, and deployment
  • Lead on configuration and optimisation of EPMA within SystmOne
  • Collaborate with clinicians, pharmacists, and IT teams to gather requirements and translate them into system solutions
  • Support medicines management workflows, ensuring compliance with NHS standards and safety protocols
  • Provide expert guidance on SystmOne functionality, limitations, and best practice usage
  • Assist with data migration, validation, and system testing (UAT)
  • Develop and deliver training materials and user support for clinical staff
  • Troubleshoot issues and support go-live and post-implementation optimisation
  • Ensure adherence to clinical safety standards (e.g., DCB0129/DCB0160)
  • Contribute to project documentation, reporting, and governance

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a SystmOne SME, particularly within NHS settings
  • Strong experience delivering or supporting EPMA implementations
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical workflows, especially prescribing and medicines administration
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Familiarity with clinical safety standards and NHS digital frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience in system configuration, testing, and deployment

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with TPP SystmOne configuration tools
  • Background in pharmacy, nursing, or clinical informatics
  • Previous experience working on large-scale NHS transformation programmes
  • Understanding of interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7)
