About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior LIMS Consultant to join a specialist team delivering laboratory information management solutions across a range of clients.

This role combines hands-on LIMS consultancy, technical implementation, client engagement and commercial activity, making it ideal for someone who understands both the functional requirements of modern laboratories and the technical capabilities required to deliver successful LIMS solutions.

You will take ownership of LIMS implementations from initial requirements gathering through to configuration, testing, training and ongoing client support, while working closely with customers and internal technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

LIMS Consulting & Implementation – 60%

• Lead LIMS implementation projects in line with established methodologies and industry best practice.
• Gather and analyse client requirements, including existing systems, laboratory workflows, data and processes.
• Work with stakeholders to define clear scopes of work and translate requirements into achievable business outcomes.
• Review project scope, contracts and technical requirements to identify dependencies and interfaces with existing systems.
• Provide project managers with accurate estimates, task requirements, dependencies and implementation risks.
• Lead and coordinate internal implementation teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Design, configure and prototype LIMS functionality to meet client requirements.
• Support demonstrations and proof-of-concept activities.
• Develop implementation, training and support plans for clients.
• Provide consultancy and ongoing technical support, troubleshooting issues and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with client stakeholders.

Client & Commercial Engagement – 30%

• Develop strong relationships with both technical and senior business stakeholders.
• Support business development and the growth of the LIMS customer base across UK and European markets.
• Participate in client meetings, discovery sessions and solution discussions.
• Deliver presentations and demonstrations of LIMS capabilities.
• Support pre-sales activity, including requirements gathering, solution design and technical input into proposals.
• Identify opportunities to expand and improve client solutions based on their evolving laboratory requirements.

Product, Training & Knowledge Development – 10%

• Translate customer requirements and feedback into recommendations for product development and future functionality.
• Develop and deliver tailored LIMS training using client-specific workflows and data.
• Support training sessions for customers both remotely and onsite.
• Mentor junior consultants and colleagues, particularly around laboratory processes and LIMS functionality.
• Contribute to the continued development of implementation and consultancy methodologies.
• Maintain and develop wider knowledge of laboratory informatics and emerging LIMS technologies.
• Contribute to industry publications, thought leadership and knowledge-sharing activities where appropriate.
• Represent the organisation at relevant industry events and conferences.

Essential Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with:

• 5–10+ years' experience working with LIMS, ideally across implementation, consultancy, configuration or technical delivery.
• Strong understanding of laboratory processes, workflows and LIMS functionality.
• Proven experience delivering LIMS implementations and working directly with customers.
• Strong technical skills, including C# and SQL.
• Experience gathering requirements and translating laboratory needs into technical solutions.
• Strong understanding of implementation methodologies, testing, training and go-live activities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A self-starting, positive and commercially aware approach.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Chemistry, Laboratory Science or a related discipline.

Desirable Technical Skills

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

• VBScript
• Microsoft SQL Server
• AWS / cloud technologies
• Git / source control
• LIMS integrations and interfaces
• Laboratory systems and associated technologies
• Experience within regulated laboratory environments

You will need to be comfortable taking ownership of projects, engaging directly with customers and getting into the detail of both laboratory workflows and technical LIMS solutions.
