EHR Programme Lead

Overview

Reporting into the EHR Programme Director and accountable to programme governance boards, the EHR Business Stream Lead is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across key business workstreams during the implementation of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) programme.

The role acts as the bridge between technology, operational teams, and business stakeholders, ensuring that workflows, processes, and system capabilities are effectively aligned to deliver programme objectives. Responsible for overseeing multiple business-critical workstreams, including Finance, Revenue Cycle, Procurement, and Supply Chain functions, the position drives collaboration, facilitates decision-making, and manages risks throughout the programme lifecycle.

As a senior member of the programme leadership team, the EHR Business Stream Lead provides direction across design, build, testing, deployment, adoption, and optimisation activities, while ensuring stakeholder engagement, governance compliance, and successful business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of business-focused workstreams within a large-scale EHR implementation programme.
  • Develop and maintain workstream plans, timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
  • Establish strong relationships with operational, clinical, digital, and executive stakeholders to drive programme engagement and adoption.
  • Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests, escalating where appropriate through programme governance structures.
  • Provide regular progress updates, reporting, and recommendations to programme leadership teams and steering groups.
  • Support the development and communication of programme vision, objectives, and strategic priorities.
  • Drive consensus across stakeholder groups to support effective decision-making and delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure business requirements are translated into system functionality and optimised workflows.

Programme Delivery

  • Lead business process design and standardisation activities to maximise the value of the EHR platform.
  • Oversee application configuration, testing, deployment, and transition into business-as-usual operations.
  • Coordinate end-user engagement, change management, training, and adoption activities.
  • Define reporting, business intelligence, and operational information requirements.
  • Support the identification and implementation of supporting technologies and third-party integrations.
  • Ensure appropriate policies, procedures, and governance frameworks are developed or updated to support new ways of working.
  • Manage post-go-live support activities, benefits realisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Project & Portfolio Management

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, deliverables, and success measures.
  • Monitor programme performance against agreed milestones and objectives.
  • Coordinate resources across multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
  • Facilitate lessons learned reviews and continuous improvement activities throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Work closely with internal teams, external suppliers, implementation partners, and vendors to ensure successful delivery.

  • Extensive experience leading large-scale EHR, EPR, or healthcare digital transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, process redesign, and organisational change management.
