We're currently supporting an NHS digital programme and are looking to engage an experienced HL7 Integration Specialist to join the team on an initial 4–5 month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile NHS project, supporting the delivery and optimisation of healthcare integrations within a complex clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and support HL7 interfaces across multiple clinical systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, ensuring reliable message flow.
- Work closely with clinical, technical and supplier teams to deliver integration requirements.
- Support interface testing, deployment and post-implementation activities.
- Produce and maintain integration documentation and technical specifications.
- Ensure solutions align with NHS interoperability standards and best practice.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering HL7 integrations within an NHS environment.
- Strong understanding of HL7 messaging standards (v2.x essential).
- Experience working with integration engines such as Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, Ensemble/IRIS, or similar.
- Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve interface issues.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience working within live healthcare environments.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of FHIR, APIs or other interoperability standards.
- Experience supporting EPR/EHR programmes.
- Exposure to integration testing and release management.
- Understanding of NHS interoperability architecture and digital transformation programmes.
