A small/medium sized Life Sciences company who pumped quite a lot of money into their recent failing LIMS project reached out to us about additional project support. Over the course of the 2-year LIMS implementation project, the major stumbling block was the lack of personalised support from the vendor in relation to the niche requirements of the business.

After understanding the situation and offering multiple solutions the clients decided they would like to see both contract and permanent candidates for the position, with the initial plan being to get the LIMS Contractor to come in, project lead the implementation, develop the system and give our client the personalised attention the project needed. With a less senior permanent member of staff starting at the same time (with the view to knowledge transfer), meaning that the client's permanent team was up-skilled successfully prior to the contractor's departure - the system was left in good hands for additional ongoing support.

After interviewing 6 candidates, we found both a LIMS Contractor and a LIMS permanent member of staff and the project was delivered over a 9 month period, crucially at a fraction of the cost that they would have been charged from the vendor.
